I have been drawn to the field of Social Work since I was a teenager- especially the values of service, justice, and the emphasis on relationships. I chose my undergraduate university based on a relational education program. The philosophy incorporated Existentialism and Sufiism. It included classroom study, self-study, and walking with 30 students over 1,300 miles across 6 countries – living under one tent. There was a focus on responsibility for the physical and emotional wellbeing of the group, introspection, and we were encouraged to seek connection to our higher Self and wisdom through storytelling and relationships. This was a transformative experience of building trust in myself and others.
Originally from Long Island, NY, I’ve built my career over the past 25 years in the greater Boston area. I started in the non-profit sector, moved into integrated community health services, and then most recently worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
With over 20 years of leadership and supervisory experience, I’ve honed my ability to guide and empower others. I’ve held operational and leadership roles in strategic planning, Board of Directors’ engagement, and agency mergers at the Executive level. These experiences shaped my professional approach in clinical practice and leadership consultation.
Over the years I’ve held a wide variety of clinical positions across multiple areas of service – emergency services, integrated health care, and forensic settings – to name a few. My approach is Holistic with a focus on the relationship between mind, body, and spirit. I have a deep capacity to sit with emotional pain and I use this ability to support my clients who are moving through painful life experiences.
I am queer and have created a family that does not follow traditional heteronormative structures. Long before my chosen “neurospicy” family, and still to this day, I have believed that there is no single “normal” way to think, process, or experience being human. I personally understand the complexity of grief and trauma and am continuously growing and healing every day.
